Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our Denatl Implant? Dr. Živković addresses common concerns and provides helpful information to guide you in your dental care journey.

Should I consider dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium screws Dr. Jovanka Živković inserts into your empty tooth sockets. After placement, the screws fuse with your upper or lower jaw, providing a base for dental crowns, fixed bridges, or fixed or removable dentures.
At our dental practice, led by Dr. Jovanka Živković, we specialize in general, aesthetic, and implant dentistry and providing the latest treatments to our patients by staying at the forefront of continuing education, cutting-edge technology, and new treatment methods.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Dental implants offer various advantages, including:

  • Confidence
  • Convenience
  • Easier biting and chewing
  • Improved oral health
  • Durability

Many people find that dental implants make it easier to speak. Because they attach to metal posts, implant restorations don’t move around or cause slurred speech like traditional dentures.

Can anyone get dental implants?

To get dental implants, you need healthy gums and enough bone to support them. If you don’t, Dr. Jovanka Živković recommends a prerequisite procedure, like bone grafting, sinus augmentation, or scaling and root planing. Bone grafting and sinus augmentation encourage the growth of new, healthy bone tissue. Scaling and root planing remove plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth and beneath your gums.

Does getting dental implants take more than one visit?

At Mamut Dentistry, getting dental implants takes several visits. Dr. Jovanka Živković numbs your gums with a local anesthetic and inserts a dental implant into each empty tooth socket.
After surgery, your mouth must heal for several months to allow the metal posts to fuse with the bone. You return to Mamut Dentistry when your mouth finishes healing. Dr. Živković takes digital scans with an intraoral camera and sends them to a dental lab. Technicians at the lab use your scans to design and create custom implant restorations.
After the lab completes your implant restorations, you visit Mamut Dentistry for the last time. We administer a local anesthetic, attache the restorations to your dental implants, and checks your bite.

How long will my dental implants last?

Dental implants last 10-30 years, but you can extend their lifespan with good oral hygiene.

Dr. Jovanka Živković recommends:

  • Brushing your teeth twice daily
  • Flossing regularly
  • Visiting Mamut Dentistry twice a year for professional teeth cleaning
  • Wearing a mouthguard when playing sports
  • Not biting your fingernails
  • Not chewing on hard objects (for example, ice cubes)
