Our Services

Botox and Fillers

Wrinkles happen! As we age, the increase in muscle tone along with a decrease in collagen result in wrinkles. The most popular way to fix this problem is by undergoing procedures like Botox and dermal filler injections to rejuvenate the face. Injections of Botox basically work to paralyze the facial muscles and decrease their muscle tone thus temporarily smoothing wrinkles. The procedure lasts between 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of injection sites. The injection is made with a fine needle into the specific muscle with minor discomfort and no down time. Botox usually lasts between 3 to 6 months and full results are achieved between 7 to 14 days after injection. Botox is usually the primary step in a more youthful appearance, and deeper wrinkles may also need to be filled with dermal filler.

Our dermal filler of choice is Juvederm, this is a hyaluronic acid base and very similar to the substances found in your dermis or lowest layer of the of skin. The body naturally produces hyaluronic acid that helps to detain water at the point where the gel is injected into the skin. The gel acts as a soft buffer that keeps that skin lifted, thus, reducing the wrinkle, while the acid keeps the gel from evaporating out of the skin.  Juvederm is one of the most popular fillers used in the U.S. and results are often noticeable immediately after procedure. Its most commonly used to fill stubborn wrinkles, augment or plump lips, nose, jaw and other parts of the face. The dermal filler procedure takes anywhere between 15 to 60 minutes depending on the area and results can last 6 months to 1 year.

Emergency Care

No Need to Wait!

Emergencies never happen when it’s convenient. That’s why Mamut Dentistry is available
when most offices are closed. We are open Sundays and Late Nights. We have emergency dental services that will offer the immediate relief you are looking for.

Toothache

In pain and need care right away, come to see Dr. Zivkovic! The symptoms of toothache include sharp pain or dull pain in or around a tooth. The most common cause of a toothache is a dental cavity as a result of tooth decay or root canal.

Trauma

For injury and immediate care come right in! If you have a laceration or a lost tooth, Mamut Dentistry can help right away. We can address trauma of the teeth and/or periodontium (gums, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone), and nearby soft tissues such as the lips, tongue, etc.

Veneers or Crowns

A fundamental difference between veneers and crowns is how much of the tooth they cover over. Veneers only cover a tooth’s front surface (the side that shows when the person smiles), where a crown usually encases a whole tooth. We will repair or replace the tooth no what the problem is and bring back your healthy smile!

Whitening

If you have tried at home teeth strips or whitening toothpaste with feeble results, maybe it’s time to try a professional treatment. With Philips Zoom in office whitening, you can unlock a smile up to 8 shades whiter in just 45 minutes. A gel is applied to your teeth and then activated by LED laser light that accelerates the process. This is done in office with one or more sessions depending on desired result. When you choose Zoom, stronger whitening ingredients are used to safely complete your treatment. The results will be instantly visible with little to no sensitivity. No wonder millions of people have already trusted  ZOOM with whitening their smile. Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes, teeth whitening is safe if you follow each product’s guidelines carefully. Some whitening products can irritate gums, or leave you with sensitive teeth, so it’s suggested that you speak with a dental professional if you want to brighten your smile.

What causes teeth to be discolored?

There’s a range of reasons teeth become yellow. Genetics, your environment, even taking certain medication can all have an effect on the whiteness of your smile.
The most common reason is surface stains on your enamel. This is down to everyday food, drinks and lifestyle choices. Over time, these stains can work their way to the layer below enamel, known as dentin. When this becomes stained, the whole tooth looks darker because of the translucency of enamel.

How long do results last?

ZOOM whitening treatments are formulated to give you long-lasting results, but the results will vary depending on the type of whitening you opt for. Lifestyle choices, such as drinking drinks that stain teeth, will make them yellow again over time.

Dental Implants

Mamut Dentistry offers a broad range of dental implant procedures that can replace one tooth or many teeth. Dr. Jovanka Zivkovic, has years of training and experience restoring missing teeth with dental implants. If you are interested in a long-term, cost-effective option for replacing your missing teeth, please contact us for more information.

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that prevents bone loss, preserves the health of your surrounding teeth, and provides you with a beautiful new smile. Dental implants are designed to work just like your natural teeth, with no removable parts. The materials used to support dental implants are permanent and stable, and with proper care, your replacement teeth can last a lifetime. No other tooth replacement option has such a high long-term success rate.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars to grow in the mouth. When they do not grow in properly, wisdom teeth can cause some painful and potentially damaging symptoms. Having wisdom teeth removed before problems arise can help you avoid issues such as dental crowding and infections.

As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Jovanka Zivkovic is trained to extract wisdom teeth in one simple outpatient procedure. Most dental professionals recommend having your wisdom teeth evaluated during your mid to late teen years. If you or your child needs to have wisdom teeth removed, contact our office in Astoria New York, for more information.

Full-Arch Restoration

Full-arch restoration is a secure, permanent alternative to removable dentures that gives patients a functional new set of teeth. The unique design allows patients to eat the foods they love and smile with confidence. If you have many missing teeth, or you currently need dentures, you may be a candidate for this life-changing procedure.

Full-arch restoration is an attractive option because the new teeth are secured firmly inside the mouth with dental implants. Dr. Zivkovic can complete the entire restoration using as few as four implants, making this procedure extremely efficient and preventing the bone loss associated with missing teeth. If you are interested in learning more about full-arch restoration, contact our office in today.

Root canals

Root canals are probably the most notorious procedure in dentistry and the most common procedure relating to endodontics. When a tooth becomes infected it is usually related to the nerves in the root of the tooth. The infected nerves needs to be removed. If left untreated an infection can turn into an abscess, which is a much more serious problem that includes bone loss in the jaw.

The area around the tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic to start the procedure. The dentist will then drill down into the tooth to create an opening into the canal. They will then be able to remove infected tissue and clean the canal. After the infection has been removed, the space is filled with a sealant called gutta percha. It is highly recommended that a tooth that has undergone a root canal is fitted with a crown. This will improve the appearance of the tooth, and will also make it much more likely for the root canal to be successful.

“Root canal” has become a scary term for dental patients to hear, but the benefits of the procedure and advances in dental technology have made it much less “scary”. Local anesthetics and proper pain medication allow the procedure to be performed with little to no pain in most cases. There may be some soreness following the procedure, but that is normal for most dental procedures. Over the counter, painkillers are usually enough to relieve any pain afterward, but your dentist may prescribe medication. The procedure will also relieve you from pain caused by the infection allowing you to enjoy all the foods you love without any pain from heat, cold, or biting too hard. If you are experiencing pain consult your dentist today.

Implants

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Dental implants are changing the way people live! With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life. If like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination and health history. A radiographic exam is a type of x-ray that is done to image blood vessels in various parts of the body, to determine whether the vessels are diseased, narrowed, enlarged or blocked. During the consultation visit, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by Dr. Zivkovic. Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.
